I'm pretty sure you could get IJ or someone to get you some pics of what the block surface should look like and take that to the shop and show them what they should of done.
1. Using the 1JZ head and the stock 2JZ-GE block what HG thickness should I be looking for to achieve a usable compression ratio? Also what Motor does the HG need to be for if it matters?
Stock 2J-GE is 10:1 CR. The stock HG is .38mm and a 2JZ-GTE HG is 1.38mm IRC.

Alright a little update.
Just figured out a better way to mechanically control the vanes.
This setup allows the spring pressure to be adjusted and how far the vanes close.
The before setup the vanes opened way to fast and the turbo lagged real bad.
But whats cool the way this turbo is...
