I've done 2 bar.
FYI, boost doesn't matter.. its all in the tune. 6psi with very agressive timing and very agressive air/fuel levels can kill a motor. 46 psi with conservative timing, and conversative air/fuel mix can let a motor live a long happy life.
I would search out a good crank that doesn't need to be machined. The most I'd want to do to a crank would be to polish it.
That way one can still use the toyota bearing sizes.
ya. Shims, cams, pistons, block, head, valves.
Breaking in a motor the mototuneusa.com way is sooo much better than waiting a thousand miles before romping on it.
I can help you out man. No problem there at all. I may have to bail after the dyno tho. I know where all the points are and can lead with out too much trouble.
My car is running. Its sounds like a friggen tractor in the garage from the pistons. That makes me worry that it is that loud. My buddy's car isn't that loud and he has the same pistons. The same machinist did the work too. I'll have to drop it and move it out of the garage to see if its me...
Likely the best way to go from hooters to MSL would be take US31 north, to
465 west to US40 west. Take US40 west for a while.
Below is mapquest directions from hooters to MSL. I may print out 20 of these so people can have directions in their hand. We'll try and keep people together as...
At the PRI (SEMA for hardcore racers), I talked to the guys from Darton regarding sleeves for the 7m. They looked into it a few years prior to me asking the question, and they came to the conclusion that it wouldn't gain the end user much if anything at all. A 7m block is hard. boring it out...
I would HIGHLY suggest you listen to GRIMJACK. Doing plugs on an NA isn't as easy as doing them on the turbo model cars. The NA's have the Y pipe that would need a gasket change everytime you remove it.
I would spend the money and pick up the stock NGK plus listed in your owners manual...
I would run a stock sized head gasket. No sense in putting in a 3mm head gasket when you are already running 8.5-1 compression. Those thick head gasket like that are used in motors with high compression to help lower it in preparation of running forced induction.
There is a car right now on ebay with a bad motor. 88 with 150k. Its at 960 now and its out of CT. Its partially disassembled and doesnt have any interior pictures. Its a turbo 5 speed tho...
Jeb... I say screw rewarding... and go practical. Driving would be more rewarding that putting one back in pristine condition.
Or a mk2 with a 7mgte awap. Those things FLLYYYYYY.
I just installed 4 of those on the car this weekend from the same place.
They were an exact match to the stockers... aside from the speedbleeder part. :)
Umm. Aren't you forgetting a turbo on the end of the header. Maybe you're placing the turbo under the car??
Don't forget the outlet of the turbine. Try to keep it away from the hood.
I thought I was the only person who turned their lights off at the drive thru. Same with the ATM. When in line at the ATM.. I hang back 30 feet or so so the person doesn't feel rushed.
I'm alllll about the karma.
