head bolt tq and timing ?'s

There is a notch on the crank pulley that should be aligned with the 0* mark on the timing cover when at TDC. If the headgasket is new, then no sealer is required, in fact, it will do more damage than good. If the head gasket has been used, then all o the old Viton coating must be removed...

head bolt tq and timing ?'s

Wow^^ Nice post, but I think it's a little conflooooosing, if you've never done it before. So let me sum it up. 1. Align marks on cams with marks on backing plate. 2. Set crank to the 0* position. 3. Slide belt on, and loosen tensioner bolt, let spring apply tension, tighten back down. 4...

    Shocks

I don't think that's what he means. From what I've heard, you have to put a washer or two under the nut on top of the strut, or the nut will just turn the shaft, and strip out the shockmount...then you're back to square one.

    Blown HG!

Here's what I would do...cause I've been there ;). 1. Since you said you are losing coolant, pressure test the system. (There may be a leak you cannot see, as it was in my case) When the cooling system is pumped up to 21psi, even TINY leaks are obvious. 2. While your doing this, you can use...

    Fog Lights

lol...our Supra's are like the same...except my dome lights worked, and then suddenly stopped, my fogs also worked, and right when I installed yellow bulbs, they worked for two days, then stopped, and now they keep blowing fuses...ugh...I HATE electronics/wiring.

    Cleaning corrosion/dirt/grime

Get a brush...like the kind used on BBQ's...i'm not joking, it makes it look new with minimal effort, it almost looks polished afterward.

    Shocks

I wish I could afford new Toyota TEMS shock (lol, or even Tokico's), but I plan on getting the KYB GR-2's, I have heard nothing but good things about them...I just wish they were TEMS compatible. :(

How to Set off Factory Alarm?

Yea...It is pretty useless, considering how easy it is to get into a Supra. BlkSupra: It sounds like the door lock sensor probably fell off of the lock cylinder in your passenger door, Both of mine were like this, I just clipped them back on, and the problem went away.

    Is my Supra dead?

Is there any oil in the spark plug galley? Any oil or coolant leaking onto the ground?

    Uneven idle RPM

What was max boost psi? You may want to check for boost leaks, check your TPS, and your ISC, and all related wiring, and I bet you'll find the problem.

lol...if the coating is viton...just soak the head gasket in a tub of green coolant, that will get it off! ;).

    CPS Rewire

Wow, this thread is really old...I actually resolved this problem a while ago...I attempted to COMPLETELY rewire the CPS (all internal wiring included) and ended up breaking the CPS :(...The pick-up coil cases cracked from age, and the coil went everywhere...sucks. So I bought Aaron's old CPS...

    Uneven idle RPM

Any codes? I'm thinking either the TPS, or the ECU temp. sensor, and/or wiring to them.
