I tried the 180 degree thermo and found my car (believe it or not) ran below optimum operating temperature, even though both of my electric fans (dumped the original clutch fan in favor of two electric fans) are thermostacally controlled and adjustable.
It just wouldn't stay hot enough no...
When you consider the byproducts and energy expended when manufacturing a cat, and then whats left over after it becomes useless and has to be recycled or landfilled, one can't help but wonder how environmentally friendly they really are.
No shit! I would not waste one dollar or second messing with some crappy mandated smog junk that I could replace cheaper and better with something as simple as a testpipe.
The only time I think about my cat is every two years when I put it back on for my smog test (along with a bunch of other...
The rheostat idea might actually work but it's never been tried as far as I know.
Sounds simple enough, if I had a later model supra I'd give it a shot just out of curiosity.
Threre's always somebody around to tell you your bent for trying anything off the beaten path.
If you give it...
They're such a hassle to get out, that I was afraid to have mine repaired and possibly leak again, so I just bought a new one.
I don't want to have to revisit that job anytime soon.
I don't have a can of the stuff I used (it was Jasco) but I'm pretty sure it even says to do this on the instructions on the can. It was a long time ago, but i'm positive about it.
Rent one of those tow dolly's that cradles the front wheels and disconnect the driveshaft on your sup.
They'll even set you up with a tow hitch if you haven't got one.
A tad squirrelly but it works, and it's cheap.
Here's the trick:
When you spray on the paint remover, cover the wheel with tin foil (Reynolds Wrap or the like).
Works like a charm and makes all the paint go away. Also wait 15 minutes before washing off paint remover.
This is an interesting set-up, but totally impractical.
Can you imagine trying to get fuel/air right?
And there is gonna be timing issues, and all those extra moving parts (blower and turbo) generate alot of heat in a very crowded space.
Very complex. It looks to me like a...
I've checked all the connections at the doors, hatch and hood, run continuity tests on all the wires...everything checks out.
I got another "brain" for the alarm (the blue box under the dash) and I'm going to swap it and see if it works.
Any imput would be great. I know I'm not the only...
I like the one on Duanne's white Supra (CFX right?).
But I think all those funky (vented, cowled, scooped etc.) hoods ruin the best part of the Supra's looks. The long hood line and all that sloping metal are what makes the Supra such a great looker.
I like carbon fiber hoods but I...
I don't know whether the fact that it has only done it when it is kinda wet out is a coincidence or not since it's only been happening for a few days.
Anyone here ever get false alarms and traced the problem?
