Sounds to me that you either have a faulty valve in the cooling system (thermostat or cap), the water pump is toast, the radiator is clogged, a giant air pocket in the system, or you have BHG on the way.
Also, check your timing, both ignition and cam. If they are way off the engine will heat...

...... To a point. You see, there is a theroretical point at which the pressure inside the manifold or exhaust housing reaches the spring/mechanical pressure of the wastegate itself.
Sure it could be in the 40+ psi range, but sooner or later the wastegate will open.
