    I doubt you measured the shaft play unless you took the turbo off and the housings apart. Any who, I don't think an exhaust leak could cause deathwhine, but it could sound really nasty under boost.

    cheap truck turbos?

    Tom: Not possible. Holset doesn't really make t4 flanged hot sides, and the ones the do are giant. I would suggest making or have a t3/t4 adaptor made. What manifold are you running?

    Also if you have an old turbo on a new engine that has water cooling on it. Some times I have found that the inside of the water passages on the ct26s are horrible inside.
