was good to meet you as well, while we talked cars apparently my missus was studying the calendar in your garage ;) She was trying to work out of they were real or fake.
been building the thread :) still updating it now..
Currently i am about to remove the W58, im running a 225mm flywheel and clutch, it is too much for the trans to handle yes... im saving/searching for a R154 and a new clutch.
Speaking to a clutch builder here in Australia who "apparently"...
Hi Guys,
Decided to post up my A70 supra. Builds been going for 2 years now, got it with a fubared 7m that had been sitting for a year with a BHG. i've been peicing it back together bit by bit...
Its a Ma71 widebody Targa top.
so far 411.5rwhp @ 16psi
Engine:
7mgte complete rebuilt
ARP...
i used degreaser and compressed air and cleaned every bit of piping out.. i was lucky the oil caught the fins or they would have been run though my brand new motor
Wastegate flapper is fixed now :)
Went over to IJ's house and we put a grub screw in there to hold it in place.
I measured the wastegate and the port is 28mm in diameter, my stock ct26 port is 24mm, I'll put it all back together and see if there is any improvement.
i had a ct26 grenade its self, mine had excessive shaft play and clipped the compressor housing, made a death whine after that, removed the turbo and threw it in the bin!
I think you will want to pull the intercooler off and look for shards of turbo fin.. i found all 3 missing fins in a bit of...
Got bored and pulled the turbo tonight, the flapper was sitting at the bottom like in the first picture above
tested the actuator, starts opening @ 6psi and is open by 8psi... added a bit more preload so it starts opening @ 8psi and is fully open by 10psi
I took a video uploading soon , there...
Cheers :) I'll let you know once i've removed it.
Yes I have, I got no response from them as of yet (sent a email about a week ago and sent another email today with pictures posted here)
I doubt they will fix the issue..
---------- Post added at 04:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:20...
i defiantly noticed a benefit going to DDP, after all it avoids turbulence in the dump pipe,
I'll get a micrometer and measure the wastegate port while its off as well.
its not oddly shaped, the flapper is allowed movement! my theory is the flapper is currently hitting the upper edge and...
1) I had my exhaust from turbo back made on the car by a few guys i know that run a exhaust shop, divorced downpipe until the floor pan pretty much. as poodles said, stock is a horrible design, i got the flange lazer cut and a 3" pipe all the way to the end tailpipe.
2) don't use the bolts that...
yeah that's it! its a map sensor, the vac hose on mine went to the outlet on the back of the intake manifold, and the wiring runs through one of the body looms.
i plan to set up a rig on my work bench with a pressure gauge, the actuator and a bike pump to see exactly when it opens in comparison to a known 6psi actuator i have.
IJ, ill try giving it more pre-load, hopefully my controller should keep it from spiking. it may also not be covering the port...
Ok, so yesterday i've been doing some testing,
we've had a pretty cold snap here (we only get snow on mountains in Melbourne)
Ambient temperatures have been around 8-13deg C at night, the turbo pretty good at night, there is still lag of about a second before any boost is seen, and i can...
Backed the boost off to 12-13psi to save the clutch until i can sort out a replacement gearbox/clutch, then ill ramp it up to 20psi.
At this level still should be making considerable power... (250-260rwkw)
Playing with the controller today i saw 20psi on the gauge (straight after the clutch...
i'll still have to weigh up the options, i'd like to go R154 anyway as its a stronger box.
went out for some logging runs last night, seems the Bov was leaking and inhibiting spool
I've still got a few issues with idle once warm and throttle pumps, but all the top end stuff is spot on!
Best of...
+1, i ended up just buying a new cometic the correct thickness.
have you inspected the gasket carefully to make sure its even reusable? IJ. had a few posts on cleaning a MLS head gasket maybe search for them.
Have you Tried brake cleaner?
Thanks :) Should steal me 15th place on the 7mgte list :P
Tuner says the setup has 500rwhp in it (370-380rwkw) in it. Just need a clutch to hold it now :(
i've got a few other actuators laying round, might see what i can come up with.
I wish the rain would hold off for a day or two, Melbourne weather sucks :(
the two problems i've got currently are,
1) Turbo spools late and finally hits full boost at peak power
2) My clutch does not hold...
No doubt there is a underlying issue. i wouldn't make final judgement just yet...
maybe someone else can comment on boost they saw with just the actuator (no boost controller)
Once i fix the issues i've gotta rebook for some more dyno time, it is possible i got a lemon of a wastegate actuator...
i'm using half a hole currently...
the waste gate flapper arm its self is connected to a rod and in normal operation lets say rotates horizontally, the shaft that goes through the exhaust housing and connects to the linkage is able to move vertical, this means the flapper arm can get stuck on...
