    Rapid temperature change can cause a crack. Since it is right on the bolt hole, that is probably the problem. And since he said he put a breaker bar on it, then that is even more likely.

    I would do it over again, and use heat shrink, not tape. Sweep the meter. You need a DSO. And do what FTW(Joel W) said, pull codes.

    TEMS can come with any setup. Toyota didn't make two different wiring harnesses. If you want to do it, go ahead. Don't go with used in my opinion. The actuators may not work anymore.

    Autozone might only be selling a bearing, and not a bolt in assembly. And a lot of autozone parts are garbage.

    The glow plug is to heat the air when the engine is cold.

    Perhpas the cam gear is a little loose. Or the tensioner. Noise travels very well through solids, and were it comes from can be misleading.

    To answer the question, yes. If the gear is off, the reading will be too.

    Hmmm. I haven't ever had one leak. But I suppose it is no different than windows or convertibles. The seal are old, new but installed incorrectly, or stuff added that shouldnt be there.
