I have a manual boost controller purchased for all of $30.00. I was running it at 13 psi. I have the Lex and 550's. At 13 psi, I think it drives great. So if you save a few bucks by getting a rebuilt stock unit, that is a good budget move.

Does it stay running? Or does it stall out? If it stays running, it can't be the circuit opening relay for obvious reasons. Can you block of the regulator return and see if it starts easier after shutting down?
Egg smell doesn't necessarily mean the cat is bad, but it does mean you are not getting 3 way reduction, or have excess sulfur in the fuel for some reason.
And I think it is a trait of Cressidas and Supras with a 7M to have a warm center console/shifter area.
If you can't find other things, check DTC's. If you have spark, but the spark confirmation is lost, the car will start, then stall after a couple of seconds.
This is correct. The mods are technically not legal. They must be 49 state or 50 state legal to be changed from factory. But they will not hurt the car, and you should have no difference unless the car is not running right to begin with.

The cold start injector is about starts that are not hot, also called cold. It has nothing to do with winter. If you read these boards you will find many threads with problems, and you will find many threads with people who have taken things off the car it doesn't need.
