Found the problem. My Torsen diff was on it's way out and had lots of slack, causing the drivetrain bounce. Good news is I know what the problem is and I can fix it. Bad news is my Torsen's gone!!!
Auto trans can sometimes shave off a full second compared to a 5-speed. I'd say it'd be REAL hard to hit low 12's on a 5-speed. My 57 has yet to break into the 12's and the best time here in Vancouver with a 57 trim (411 RWHP) is 12.8 I think. And that's with a fair amount of practice.
Clear turns are hot. Grab them while you can, I don't think they're making them anymore. I had to scrounge around the for sale sections for 6 months before I found a set for 89-92!!!
I think there are several Mk3 owners in the Vancouver area that know nothing about forums. There's a minty red 89+ here in Ladner driven by a grey-haired guy.
The bolt appears to extend through the mount and I can see the other end of the bolt hitting the upper metal of the bracket. Perhaps I should take a pic. The surge was never there before, so something is definately wrong!

Bumping this for more info on this product: Permatex brake quiet. Is it safe to use and can it affect braking performance? I've got drilled & slotted brembo rotors and EBC green pads and all 4 of them squeal loudly under light braking. Thanks
Definately ground the coil packs with a nice 8 gauge wire. I ran NGK 6097 plugs and after a while the misfiring was bad above 15 psi. I regapped them to .31 (I think?) and since then, no misfiring even at 20 psi. I would try regapping your plugs even smaller. If it still runs poorly then upgrade...
