5w-30 has the largest range and covers the entire range of the other heavier weights.
Do you understand that pressure is resistance to flow? How about the fact that he won't see over 40PSI on a stock system because of the oil cooler? Higher viscosity = higher pressure = less flow and more...
On the stock bypass cooler setup you're only going to starve the engine of oil running a higher viscosity to bump pressures up as the pressure will bleed off.
And go look at the oil chart again.
Try shifting fast ;)
It may feel "smoother" with an LSD additive, but it's not functioning as intended and will slow your shifting down and wear worse.
Wrong, CT's shaft is larger than the garrett shaft. It's true compressor surge that kills upgraded turbos with a huge wheel in a small housing.
If the housings are properly sized the turbo will last.
Also, make sure you remove the sticker on the tread ;)
Hoping for it to wear off is dangerous (I remember a tire place being sued years ago because it caused an accident)
Yep, you could run it pretty stock (except the elbow issues I've mentioned) and fuel cut will still be there to save you.
To take full advantage you'll need some upgrades though.
Also, as it doesn't use coolant, make sure to loop the coolent lines to the turbo. That's the bypass of the...
Rubber under coating + insane EGT's from a turbo car = potential fire :3d_frown:
If you've ever seen tires burn, you'll know rubber does NOT like to stop burning. If you have any oil leak of any kind, you're only going to compound the issue...
I used the black silicone stuff that's made for window installs...still leaks, but I think it's cause the job was a bit of a rush... I had already spent the entire day trying to get the silicone out of the tracks that hold the seals because of the numbnuts previous owner siliconed em in (yep...
Take it from someone who's tried a lot of em. Most of the synthetic gear oils on the market have friction modifiers in them for limited slip diffs (they won't harm a normal diff) but can have a bad effect on syncros.
I had a second gear grind with normal 75w-90 dino oil. Switched to Royal...
Hopefully you didn't kill the tranny...
Summit Racing carries Red Line and it's where I've gotten it.
To properly fill (I'm assuming it's empty), you'll have to park on a level surface, jack it up and remove the fill plug, put the car back on the ground, and then pour oil through the...
Seals aren't the issue (but you have to pull em off anyway, might as well replace). The drip rails are. You have the targa, the drip rail, and then the seal. Water runs off the targa into the drip rail and if everything is right it will run off. What happens is the seal between the drip rail...
