It appears it's in the back of the car and it doesn't vent back into the engine.

Check the joint as it's much like a rod ends on the steering rack. As long as the boots are not torn they usualy last.
The spherical bushings that go into the spindle are another story. The bushing kits on the market don't include them and they're not fun to replace, but they do wear out...

You're going to have the same issues putting a normal CT on that manifold. It has provision for an external wastegate and you're better off changing the rear housing and running an external gate.
If not, you'll have to build your own downpipe...
