Check the joint as it's much like a rod ends on the steering rack. As long as the boots are not torn they usualy last. The spherical bushings that go into the spindle are another story. The bushing kits on the market don't include them and they're not fun to replace, but they do wear out...

You're lucky, but definately replace the EGR cooler gasket. The stock gasket is like the exhaust manifold gasket and not paper.

EGR has nothing to do with the CC...

Yep, the diff is the weak link from what I've read. I wonder if one of the truck axles might work better or is it the same?

You're going to have the same issues putting a normal CT on that manifold. It has provision for an external wastegate and you're better off changing the rear housing and running an external gate. If not, you'll have to build your own downpipe...
