It's because the joint doesn't move in only one axis. The nylon doesn't give, so the arm has to causing failure. In certain places they would be fine, but as a general rule not safe IMHO...

If you're prepping the block for a MHG the block needs to be stripped down anyway... There are alternatives to hot tanking as well. Do research on engine building before you get into this as it's obvious you don't have a clue and a machine shop can easily take you for a ride because of it.
