That's the problem, flat finishes are a BITCH to keep clean. Even worse, if it's paint you can't wax it to protect it so it's going to age very fast.
In the end, I'd use vinyl on a car. On a motorcycle it's easy to pull the parts and just repaint it when it starts looking crappy.
They're darker because they paint the back of the center section gunmetal instead of silver like USDM tails (JDM tails also have tinted diffusers inside the main lights). Removing the paint is a chore. I should know, I did it so the center matches on USDM tails.
I'd post a pic but...
1) FAL fans have been known to be....sub par. They don't flow or last as long as OEM fans.
Eliminating things in the name of "cleaning up the engine bay" is looked down upon here. Everything was there and done for a reason, unless you know what you're doing (hint: most don't), don't screw...
My bad. Though the one you show if nothing but a stock turbo (supposedly "new", but I doubt it). In that case you could just buy a used one. The T61 appears to be a good upgrade though.
$250 is low, hell he could get $500 just for having a scrap yard haul it off, don't insult the guy...
Depends on the interior and what it looks like under the car, but it looks like a good buy to me.
Metal core will flow more and work pretty well. Mine passed inspection just fine with it.
The other advantage is that they're more durable in many ways.
The spun metal core cats from magnaflow are pretty short bodied with tong tubes you could easily make shorter (as seen here, got this one from Raptor Racing, they might even be able to make the custom length you need)
