I'm going to approve this thread...with conditions:
- You post what brand, SAE grade, API service category, and the specific oil data sheet (or link to it)...with an oil analysis (if you do them)
- Info on the oil's base stock and additive pack. (did I say oil analysis?)
- You cite the...
This is interesting...in the past, copper gaskets required an O-ring around the cylinders. If SCE has figured out a way around that, a copper gasket would be awesome since it is a single layer of metal vs the multilayer steel you see on the current MHG's.
Toyota = OEM
Toyota did revise the stock HG, but it's still made of a composite graphite material. I would use ARP bolts torqued to 75 ft/lbs on a stock HG. It can actually handle quite a bit of boost...you can take it up to fuel cut without a problem if you use the ARP bolts. If you stick...
Actually it was...your luck just worked a bit different than expected ;)
You're very lucky you did not get hurt a lot worse than you did!
johnathan was just being blunt...next time don't even consider working on a car without jack stands. Regardless if you don't have them handy...you could...
It would smell, but not any worse than some of the products out there. Give it a try on the rear hatch seals ;)
Silicone oil would work just as well or better though.
;)
Believe it or not, some of the fatty acids in peanut oil would work well as a conditioner on rubber/plastic ;)
In fact, George Washington Carver came up with some plastics derived from peanut oil (among the 300+ other uses he developed) and it was the original fuel for a diesel engine.
Ok...let me get this straight. You asked "How much RWHP with these mods???" and got the appropriate responses to such a vague question...you didn't search then either.

Now you ask the same type question about boost. Doward gave you...
That is not a bad price at all for the work done...you are smart for getting the head freshened up IMO ;)
A couple of things...in no particular order:
- The RA spec for HKS MHG's is 30 RA minimum...as mentioned, the lower the better.
- Find out from the machinist how much material was...
If you can feel ridges on the block or deck surface with your finger nail, it's not smooth enough for a MHG ;)
I understand what you're doing and at least you understand the higher compression pistons will cause problems on a turbo motor. If you go this route, at least make sure the MHG...
The one good thing is if the filter did clog due to the particles in Restorer, the filter would go in to by-pass. Filters are designed for this contingency...the oil would simply by-pass the filter and return to the motor un-filtered so you would not have an oil starvation problem. Since your...
