Dirgle - What you're describing is the F-18's ability to sustain high angle of attack or high "alpha". In a close in fight, this actually does have tactical application...it is very unnerving to see the opposing fighter crank his nose around and point at you ;)
You're right JJ...It was the Mobil EP line that was tested and even more so Mobil's behavior concerning the switch that makes me really leery.
Gas chromatography analysis was done on some Mobil 1 EP grades...the test showed these were Group III. An individual did the testing...no web site...
It has...that's why I was able to talk about it. Notice I didn't say anything about capability though ;)
A pod for the A-10 was long over due IMO.
It was actually related to high angles of attack which can be induced by high G turns...it can also happen (more likely) at low speed and...
No, you're not. But as JJ so tactfully put it, you are paying too much for what you get. If you go to Mobil for the convenience and you have the $$$ to burn, go for it. For me, If I'm going to pay syn oil prices...I want a real syn oil in the pan ;)
Mobil 1 and the Castrol European...
Who knows man :dunno:
WW seems to almost have a mind of it's own when it decides to create the crud. I know on my Supra, it did...new motor, new rad, all new hoses. I flushed it all out and no problems since.
^^^ Yep...dead on. Royal Purple is also a true syn oil. If you're going to run a hydrocracked oil, Pennzoil Platinum is a better base stock than Mobil 1 and a better add pack. IMO, you should run a true syn in a turbo car...no heavier than a 10W-40. If a 5W-30 or 0W-30 gives you the...
I know from personal experience that the Red Line WW doesn't like Toyota coolant. Got crud in my overflow res and had to flush the motor. I've read it doesn't play well with other coolants as well. Using it with straight water is fine...it may or may not work with the coolant you're using.
Very true, but it's an upgraded Champion filter ;)
This is what a person should do...take a look at what you're putting in your pan and what you're screwing on for a filter. This is what I was getting at when I asked Alex what his reason was for using it...Nice job :icon_bigg
The Mobile...
Yeah...heard that myself. That's why I told him to lay the MHG on the block deck. I didn't know if he had a current production Cometic or a used/new one made some time ago. If the rivets don't touch the deck, they don't have to be removed.
The LANTIRN Targeting Pod is a wonderful thing ;)
The F-16 Block 40 carries it and, as you said, the "Mud Hen" (F-15E). The F-14 got it in order to extend the life cycle of the aircraft...it just finally got too old and too costly to maintain.
Targeting pods make acquiring/ID a lot...
The canopy is made of Polycarbonate...about a 1/2" thick in most places...closer to 3/4" in the front for this reason. I does a very good job, but if a bird hits it right it will break...in this case the impact was just above the canopy rail on the left front. Came right through...
