My apparent thermostat issue? or is it?

Have you check yet that a thermostat is even installed?

    FFIM design questions

Nice ;) How about building up material around the stack in the plenum to cut down on turbulence? The way you have the runner protruding into the plenum would have the effect of a longer runner and improve bottom end power. The raidus port is far more important on an FFIM though...you want a...

    FFIM design questions

LOL...restrictions as in the TB (butterfly), bends in the pipe, the IC itself, and if you're not thinking, changes in IC pipe diameter. It was pretty obvious what I was getting at...the FFIM is not the restriction. And, it's obvious that reducing turbulent flow is the point of smoothing out...

    FFIM design questions

I'd like to see the source for that quote ;) This part I have a problem with: Corky Bell (CarTech's founder) has wrote numerous articles on forced induction and talks about critical velocity in IC piping. The higher the boost, the higher the velocity of air flow through the pipe...on a...

John - LOL...that will work too. Are you going to exhaust the pump into the intake to the turbo? Kristian - In addition to what SS5 said, the intake is a poor source of vacuum, the TB is a far better source (~20 in/hg) and you need vacuum to pull the vapors into the catch can. Chris - I'm...

That's not the big problem actually (though it's not a great idea)...the only vac source is the intake....not very effective. The best would be a source right behind the TB w/ a check valve to prevent back flow under boost.

    very good information here

I wouldn't...the add packs are very different for motorcycle vs automotive oil. Motorcycle oil actually contains less base stock oil as a result.

How many of us have automatics?

Ian - Did you ever figure out if a "suck'" or a "blow" was better for the fan on that cooler?

    Post your FFIM Thread

It is ;) Above 4000 rpm iirc. Detonation can occur at other than WOT...depending on the tune of course. LOL!

    front facing intake

^^^ LOL! That wasn't because of the welds or high boost. Nothing like a manifold full of LPG and a backfire to ruin your whole day! ;)

    BHG?? coolant under oil cap..

Jeff - from what he posted, he ran oil through it (engine off), but drained right away. I'm concerned he did not run the motor until the final change. If this is the case, he needs to change the oil again to ensure fresh oil flushed out the bearings under pressure.

    FFIM design questions

Not so sure about using velocity stacks inside a FFIM under boost...everything I've seen (from IJ and Seth's experience) leads me to believe velocity stacks will disrupt air flow under positive pressure. Velocity stacks will give you better bottom end flow off boost though. The biggest...

    FFIM design questions

You're looking at 800-900 rpm...if you retain the AC, it will need to be 1000-1100 rpm. Like I said, this is with a stand alone, not a stock ECU...if you keep the stock ECU, life is much easier if you keep the ISCV. Don't cut corners on this one ;)

I was wondering when someone would notice ;) Here in AZ, we do dyno emissions testing...it is hard to pass without the EGR and NOX emissions is one of the nastiest there is. I get to see the brown cloud over the valley every time I drive into the city here in Phoenix. Plus, the EGR will...

    FFIM design questions

    1) Depends...do you live in a cold climate? The worst case is a longer start on cold days. I live in Phoenix and eliminated the CSI. 2) If you are running the stock ECU vs a stand alone EMS, keep it. You can get away without it on a stand alone, but idle will not be as nice and will have to...

How many of us have automatics?

Yep...like the B&M coolers myself. Another excellent addition is a filter for the ATF...a simple add between the output of the tranny to the filter.

    Anyone ever used Engine restore?

Don't use it...it's snake oil ;) It's a lot like Lucas in that respect: Lucas Oil Treatment You don't have to use a syn oil in your Lincoln, but a good quality oil will treat it far better.

Any alternative markings to do cam gear timing with???

I recommend cutting them off on any thermostat for this car. It's there to allow air to pass and exit out the radiator cap. What I've seen is pressure can build up behind the stat, holding it closed...the coolant lines to the CT26 also acts as a bypass to help prevent this. It usually works...

How many of us have automatics?

X2 ;) A built A340E will smoke a same HP 5-speed all day. This car is perfect for an auto tranny IMO.
