ARZ or AZ Performance (one of our vendors on here) makes brake systems that are VERY well suited to our cars, and Andy makes a hell of a product. Check him out in the vendor section, you won't be disppointed. ;)
Looking back, I would have painted mine the black cherry color I was looking at, but it looked too much like stock maroon color to me. However, would have saved the trouble of painting the jambs or under the hood too...
I went with a Dupont (I think) color called Black Sapphire Metallic. It's...
Makes sense. Kinda feel bad for letting mine sit in storage all this time. Maybe a full restoration is in order if I ever get the urge to build another Supra...
Did you use B-Quiet for the engine bay as well? I'm torn on the idea of isolating engine noise... I kinda like hearing it, but I guess for my car it's gonna end up being a nice weather car anyway, could always roll the windows down if I want to hear things. :)
That's good to hear. I'd keep the stock sawblades as wall ornaments myself. And for 50k, I would *hope* you could get them to throw in a new set of springs... sheesh!
Poll time! Who would actually DRIVE the car if they could afford to buy it? I would. Would just take much better care of it than...
...if of all the people you know with a 7m that's faster than your car, only one of them is running healthy.
...if you wish your car sounded like a 7m, but you don't have the space for a second Supra to sit while you pull the engine once in a while.
...if you don't have the patience to do a 7m...
I've been on the same setup for over a year now, and it's still fun. Have yet to lose to anyone who revved at me. Only two races I lost were planned things, and both those were significantly bigger turbo'd cars.
320whp at 12psi here. 16psi felt great up here in 6500' of altitude, but the boost controller was causing massive fuel cut issues, so I had to take it off in Vegas to dyno. Even on the lowest setting it was fuel cutting, so no boost controller. Stock electonics.
Ported head and BC264 cams...
Pretty sure the 3sgte was used in the GT500 class A80 because there was no need for the power level the 2j could put out. They could not only easily get that power out of the 3s, but it was shorter, lighter, and just as tough in every other aspect. Better for handling too, due to size and weight. ;)
I see no reason to leave, but I can't be mad at you for going with a C6, those things are surgical looking they're so sharp. :)
Some day, I still see myself picking up either a C5 (if I can stomach the interior), or a C6 (if I can't).
Bleeding edge, and yet this motor is 10 years old. I love it.
Also like how the original poster has yet to post back... wonder if we scared him off?
And, I feel obligated to say... take your time. I spent 8 months (mostly due to schedule conflicts between myself and the shop we built it at) between the teardown, build, and reassembly. The end result was very much worth it though. :)
Oh, and while you're checking things out, I'd double check...
I believe it depends on the year as well... my 88 had body color paint on the "supra" lettering, while my 89 had it in white, while the car itself was red.
I painted my trim though, all body color. Seems most people around here are absolutely clueless as to what it even is now.
Same story with the FC/FD leap Razoe... still kinda irritated that there were no less than 6 billion Rustangs and Camaros sold in the 90's, but they stopped selling all the cool Japanese cars before the decade was out. Makes sense though, considering the price difference. My 01 SS was something...
