    damn valve cover gaskets

Get a torque driver. A Utica TS-30 or similar can often be had cheap from Ebay. Start with new gaskets, make sure the covers are flat, the head clean, sealant placed *only* were the book says, keep the PCV system functional, and torque check every other oil change. My covers never leaked. Do...

    Bypassing heater control valve

No. Didn't take a pic and no longer own the car but it's not rocket science. Mounts upside down where the original one went using the same screw hole. Either remote the filter on a short length of hose or just stuff a bit of cotton down the port. Leaving it open won't hurt either but it's good...

    Bypassing heater control valve

Stock oil pressure gauge acting weird

^This. A fried gage may or may not fall to zero without power applied. Depends on how the heater element failed and for how long it was powered. And yes, a constant ground will burn out the element, hence the need to limit current through it with something. The book specifies a lamp...

89 supra runs good when cold but like crap when hot.

It does fail safe to hot (80 C), as it should. After all hot is the normal operating condition. Furthermore, this occurs with either an open or shorted sensor.

89 supra runs good when cold but like crap when hot.

What's with all the caps? 1) With the coolant sensor disconnected the computer will think the coolant is hot. 2) Wire colors for the sensor are easily found by looking in the TEWD. 3) The cold start injector can't operate unless the engine is cranking.

    code 14 IGF wire

One of us is confused. No spark = no IGf, not the other way 'round. IGf causes no injection. In other words IGf has nothing to do with making spark but not having spark has everything to do with IGf...

Not exactly true. The ECU doesn't pick up the pump speed relay until after start. Since he also claims no spark the point is moot though...
