Fuel Pulsation Damper (FPD)...unlucky you got two bad ones. You'll have to replace it.
Wouldn't run the car with a fuel leak unless you want to have a weenie roast.
Ummmm...no, not even close. The amount of torque applied to one end of an extension will result in the same force on the other end. This is an old mechanic's myth. It's impossible to do otherwise, even with a twisting moment. Hint: It has to do with "equal/opposite reaction" from your high...
You do not want to reuse a freeze plug...they are a press fit. Once removed, the oversize of the plug that makes a press fit work is gone. Blowing a freeze plug is bad...all your coolant is gone in seconds.
Mobil 1 oil was (several years ago) a Grp IV PAO. Without telling anyone, they switched to a Grp III base stock...then denied it when confronted. They still will not admit it...they use terms like (from their FAQ):
A couple of key phrases: "including polyalphaolefins (PAOs)" and "a unique...
There is nothing wrong with using Mobil 1 oil...it's overrated for what it is though. A lot of marketing hype by Exxon that fails to live up to it.
I look at oil for it's value...will it meet what I need it to do for the $$$ spent. For example, Red Line is the best IMO, but I don't use...
At least tell him an oil that's worthwhile. ;)
Pennzoil Platinum is a Grp III, but they don't hide it like Exxon does.
Jay - I do use Mobil 1 synthetic ATF for power steering fluid ;)
Just flushed/changed the truck's today...added a Magnafine filter to the return as well.
Global - Red Line is the best oil out there...a Grp V ester based oil. Same stuff used in jet engines. It has a stout additive pack, but what you might see if you do analysis is a slight increase in wear metals...especially copper. Ester has an affinity for copper. This will decrease over...
Marketing between GM and Exxon...:evildeal:
Personally if I'm going fork over the $$$ for a "synthetic oil"...I'm going to get a Grp IV or V synthetic. Not a Grp III hydrocracked oil like Mobil 1. Especially when you can get a PAO oil at the same price or less. If you're determined to use...
Mediocre oil at best...not even a true synthetic oil.
(someone else that needs to do a little "light reading" in the Oil Section)
Yep! Getting more grumpy by the day too ;)
