    SP Quick Spool Valve

Could very well be negligible...the whole idea is to use a larger hot side AR and getting it to spool like a smaller AR. By the time you've got the faster spool, it opens anyway. I still think blocking the outer would be better, but we might only be quibbling over a couple hundred RPM. If...

    benefits of removing oil squirters

Like I said, you want the squirters to help keep the pistons cool...all of them.

    SP Quick Spool Valve

Is that what the instructions from Sound Performance says to do? (block the inner port)

Call Champion Toyota...you want the squirters.

Assuming a compression test confirms the leak-down results, I would be looking at that turbo too. I figured you come to that conclusion...just took a little prompting :D

    SP Quick Spool Valve

^^^ Got it right ;) Brad - keep something in mind...the turbine blades are shaped like a wing...the flow coming out of one side is at a higher velocity. Higher flow along the curve will have what effect? ;) Once the turbine housing heats up, it will transfer heat to the center...

The rings are on the pistons, correct? At what point in a 4 stroke engine cycle does the piston produce a vacuum in the cylinder...the intake stroke, with the intake valves open. Fluid flow (including the A/F mixture) will follow the path of least resistance. The vacuum produced during the...

    That's not possible...think about it.

You rebuilt the turbo? Who balanced the wheels/shaft? Might want to check for shaft play. ;) You don't have to believe me...the engine needs the PCV and it needs to be under vacuum supplied from both the accordion hose and, more importantly, the TB.

    issues running GC

Keep in mind GC is thick for a 30W at ops temp. A thicker oil may help some, but the real solution is to correctly set valve lash. I would definitely check cam journal clearance too.

    issues running GC

Are the valves set correctly, clearance wise? Have you checked the cam journals for correct clearance as well?

I misunderstood...I thought you sad you welded the holes on the valve covers shut. You said the pipe...my apologies. If your dipstick is popping out, you have pressurization. What type turbo and return line to the block?

    Fearing the worst.

I would to a compression test to confirm the leak-down results. With those holes welded shut, you are definitely pressuring the crankcase...that will push oil past the rings. You really, really need to fix that...do it right...the stock PCV is designed the way it is for a reason.

Compression test? Did you put the PCV back to stock?

Oil and Engine Design...PAO vs Ester Oils

Not true...PAO or ester oils will have no effect on the ability of the rings to seal. The blue cloud is due to worn rings or bad valve seals, not the oil. It is true (with worn rings) that switching to a thinner oil (conv or syn) will allow more oil to be forced past the rings into the...

    The (old) Official Gun Thread.

The "Ammunition Accountability Act" is actually a variety of bills introduced in various state legislatures...it was never introduced in the US Congress. It's been out there for some time and has already been killed in all. It doesn't mean that it won't resurface in some form in the future...

That is outstanding! We all need to keep our guard up though...this type thing is a policy change. All that has to happen is a directive from SecDef, there is no debate and no paper trail as to who initiated it. Perfect tactic for our comrades in the current administration.

    The (old) Official Gun Thread.

It begins. For you guys that don't know, Georgia Arms is a ammunition reloader that purchases large amounts of military .45, 9mm, .223 and .308 brass for that purpose. This e-mail was sent out by Georgia Arms summarizing a new DOD directive to destroy surplus brass...it's supported by the next...
