ok, im at a rather large problem here. got my block back from the shop yesterday all redone, deceked, bored, honed, polished cranks, all the goodies but when i was going for another inspection of cleaning out the oil gallery i went to test out my oil squirter banjo bolts. well 4 of the 6 were shot and i could blow straight through them (maybe thats why my bearings looked thirsty). so i looked around for them locally and noone has them and it would be 2 weeks shipped in from japan. i am reaching my deadline to get the engine in and i need to get it together. so in my desperation i was thinking of what i could do and i thought i could do away with the oil squirters all together. there would be benefits and drawbacks from removing the squirters.
pros
-more oil flow at higher rpm's
-cooler oil, by more flowing into the cooler through the bypass instead of coming out of the squirters and just going back to where it came from
-i wouldnt have to wait over 2 weeks.
-dont have to worry about the banjo bolt springs getting stuck or becoming leaky and loosing my oil pressure
cons-pistons wont get that cooling from the squirted oil, but doesnt the crank splash it up there anyways? (runnin b new .020 over stockers)
i was thinking i could also put my two good squirters in cylinders 5 & 6 (i think those are the hottest ones, correct me if im wrong though) that way they would get some cooling and i could bolt shut the other 4 squirter holes.
i know most people will say do it right! but there seem to be benefits. please let me know. and the ge blocks running turbos withought the oil squirters seem to be holding up fine.
