For what it's worth, HPF has a carrier bearing that is on clearance. Would have bought it myself, but the money can go toward a one piece later, it should be fine until then.
Brakes and cooling are actually the only things that are keeping me from playing on the track down in SLC... Anyway, good luck, get some video if you can, we always like that. :)
Forgive me Noel, but I have to ask... are you finished? It doesn't look bad, just wondering if it's a scheme in progress. :p
Kinda reminds me of the old TRD logo actually...
Anyway, I wiped mine off with a rag the other day. Waxed it last week, I just discovered the stuff (never bothered...
Welcome to the less fun part of owning a nice Supra: worrying about everyone else. For what it's worth, worry can add nothing to your life but stress. True story, it's even in the bible. :p
Seriously though, was having a discussion about this with a coworker recently. It's hard finding that...
Ronnie K is a member on here. I'm not 100% sure the difference between what he sells and the Energy Suspension bushings that Driftmotion sells, I need to look into it more myself.
I'm not terribly worried about previous owner issues. I bought my 2000 Miata for less than half of what it sold for 6 or 7 years prior, and it only had ~65k on it. Was still in great shape, needed the cat replaced, but other than that... was a good car.
Then again, if you held a gun to my head...
Does anyone remember on GT3, there was a replay video that is unlocked at some point (% of the way through the game?), that features a Mini Cooper versus a Formula 1 car on Grand Valley Speedway. I KNOW that this video had Andrew WK's "Get Ready to Die" playing in the background, at least on my...
Just an idea, but I have an exhaust leak somewhere between the head and the exhaust (obviously), and it's had the paranoia in me think it was a rod knocking. Although in my case it happens only when the motor is colder.
Could also be the engine miss firing, perhaps? Mine does that on occasion...
Sure thing man, that was my only thought worth contributing in this case. I've never heard of a carrier bearing fixing itself, so... I'd still be suspecting that.
Are your cooling and brake systems up to withstand some serious abuse? Those would be #1 and #2 on my list, followed by tire condition and engine condition.
Ronnie K sells poly bushings for our cars, good stuff. As for the ball joints, I don't think I've ever driven a Supra that didn't need those replaced while I owned it... 20+ year old rubber is about run its course by this point.
As for the suspension and under-car stuff, I would spend money on...
When I jack the car up, I have about 2.5-3" of wheel travel until it is off the ground. Thoughts? They came installed on the car, and I've only adjusted the height and dampening to my liking, I haven't messed with the pre-load at all, and I'm not certain the original owner did that correctly...
You guys do all realize that there will be plenty of these things in the 15-20k range in a couple years, right? Be patient. ;)
I mean, there's no way in hell I would have been able to touch an NSX 10 years ago...
The drivetrain is the same from transmission back, save for the 4.10 Torsen. ;)
Now that I think of it though, it might be different between the W58 and R154...
