You already have a tool, but for future reference, I have a snap-on tool that I love (one of the very few). It's an on-car valve spring compressor that only works on OHC vehicles, and really well for 90% of Toyota vehicles and it can be used off-car as well. This one is similar to the one that I...
This sounds like my sister's Rav4, as far as the oil consumption goes. She wasn't noticing any smoke or anything on startup or driving, but it went through 1 quart every week/4-500 miles. New pcv didn't help, so I figured it was the rings since there was zero oil leaks. Tore it down and found...
Hey, if you wanna see some bad heat shields, just look at my engine- they never came with the car! I had to cut up a salad bowl to make some temporary ones...
:biglaugh:
Lookin good there, Kenny
Alrighty then, It's time for an update...kinda
The radio went in well and I think it looks great. Sounds good, and it even brought my passenger rear speaker back to life!
Just got my front facing intake manifold in the mail (Thanks Jesse!) and it looks great! It's not finished, but that's a...
I know that, they're what I'm running on my 7M, per the tooquik mod (2JZ-GE coils and wires)
What I was referring to is the 1ZZ-FE coils I've read about at various places being put on high HP engines. They are a true COP coil, just like the ES300 coils he has, but you say that the ES coils have...
ES300's should have individual coils (true COP). Did you get 3 or 6 coils?
If you got 6, you may be able to sell them to a standalone user to try to emulate the 1ZZ coil setup, although I've never heard of 1MZ/3MZ coils being used like this.
That type of coil has its igniter built-in, so no...
My car had an OEM Toyota gasket that failed from studs pulling out of the head. I was just noting what I saw in common with both of our cars(the soot around 5&6).
Just make sure that the head to manifold studs hold their torque. Your head looks a lot like mine did when I bought my car(blown gasket/carbon around 5&6), and I had 3 manifold nuts that would not tighten. Looks like you're missing a couple studs too.
^^ I'll second that. They run about $50 retail, but they are worth their weight in gold. Won't blow out like the ones you have pictured. Should be Toyota P/N 17279-42010
I just finished reading this entire thread, and all I can say is wow. Just wow! The dedication required to finish such a project is amazing, but you did it!
Side note- I'm running an AEM and got rid of the misfire stuff by running a Toyota DH61 igniter.
Something other things- with AEM you can...
Oh, that's a really good idea ^^
The fundamental problem I see with street-driving an *open* wastegate/dump/DDP is the noise it produces for other people (cops). I would be pulled over before I got out of my cul-de-sac.
