Tuned vs Cams and Headwork 7M

Yeah, his cams are likely hurting his idle A/F ratio the most- it's never idled well with those 272's. I really wish that I had brought my laptop and done a log of the pulls, but it was dead :( But no, I have no EGT gauge.

Tuned vs Cams and Headwork 7M

We actually did a couple things by reducing the fuel pressure- we made the idle crappier(bad), but we also reduced the load on the fuel pump above 5000 RPM which keeps the pump from getting overloaded and running the engine lean.. Ideally we would add fuel pressure to make sure we didn't get...

Tuned vs Cams and Headwork 7M

So how big were your cams? Rob's got the BC 272's and expects to make power well into 7000+ rpm's eventually. So now I'm wondering of some 258 or 264's might not be a bad idea. I don't think I can spin that fast (7m crank) but maybe 6750? I've had limited luck with finding info on good redline data.

Tuned vs Cams and Headwork 7M

Thanks Ian- Rob was floored when he saw above 400 on the chart... and even more so when he saw that we had done the same numbers! Reason I posted it is I think a lot of people would enjoy/get value in seeing these charts compared to each other. Our cars are VERY similar in most aspects, but the...

We screwed with his fuel pressure- he was running out of pump at the original setting, so we dropped the pressure until the AFR's started to level out. I'm sure he can post up his original CT pull- it went dead rich when boost came on. These pulls were done on a Dynojet dyno, and according the...

Tuned vs Cams and Headwork 7M

lol, so maybe a title change is in order- tuned vs cams and headwork 7M or something on par with that... Something to show to difference between the two?

Tuned vs Cams and Headwork 7M

I wanted to be running more power than good 'ol Rob. ;) He's running stock TCCS with no adjustments (mo piggybacks at all), I'm running a fully adjustable AEM that just got tuned. Not so much pissed off, more surprised that he did so much better than I was expecting. He's sitting here next to me...

Tuned vs Cams and Headwork 7M

Rob (92NSX) and I just dyno'd at a dyno day today and guess what- we made the EXACT SAME POWER! All pulls were on a Dynojet RWD dyno. Rob's mods are as follows -8an oil pick up hose, new oil pump shimmed 7mm, .040 over probes, eagle rods, balanced, HKS 1.2m MHG, BC 1mm over sized valves, BBC...

Tune lexus/ greddy seprate or together??

If you plan on doing it, do it all at once. Dyno tuning can rack up a hefty bill quickly, so get it all in then tune it. (unless you're rollin in the dough, in which case why haven't you sent me any yet?)

    cps rebuild kit

Yep- I bought and installed it- pretty easy to do. Hardest part was getting the coil gaps correct afterwards, not too bad. I would suggest a toyota O-ring, though. Mine was 1/2" too big.

Sumeet- That's awesome! I was told by our parts dept. that they were rubber ones. AWESOMENESS!!! Rob- there's a benefit carshow this Saturday at Hitech in Elk River- it sounds like they are going to have a dyno event too- $50 for 3 pulls. Figured I'd let you know. :)

6 puck or Full face clutch?

Each manufacturer has a procedure for how they think their clutches should be broken in to ensure long life and good engagement. Most clutches have instructions of a number you can call to get instructions. If you just go nuts right away you even the nicest of clutches can turn into a POS.

6 puck or Full face clutch?

I'm really loving my SPEC Stage 3+! It's a full face disc, but it has a higher holding rating than the 6-puck units. Hasn't slipped with 408 wheel yet and it's rated for 620 tq! A bit pricey, though, and I wouldn't advise an aluminum flywheel with it, either...
