I've ran 3 different W2A systems all from PWR, they kick arse in stop start boosting situations as they're active and don't heatsoak.
Once you get over 500rwhp the hardware becomes HUGE and hard to fit in a Mk3.

My "guess" on the timing thing is the balancer has "slipped" it's outer ring and TDC Mark is no longer correct.
Pull #1 plug grab a chopstick and slide it into the plug hole so it's sitting on the piston, turn the motor by hand and watch the chopstick rise.

You have the standard drain fitting in place that I mentioned earlier it's a 3/8bspt fitting with a M14x1.5 tapered seat plug that screws into it.
The plug seals with a taper cut on it's end and another female taper inside the fitting NOT on the threads.
