Even the MAF cars have one for the boost gauge but I'm not sure if the ECU uses it at all. (never owned one so not sure) If it's MAF only I can understand Randy's post the boosting early will cause detonation.

It's just something small in the configuration that you can't do using a MUX, damned if I can remember what it was though.... It was something like you can't change the driven wheel balance.
