Have them bore that cylinder to +17 and see if it cleans out the gouge before buying pistons, if it does get the +20 slugs and have them bore to size and you're golden, if it doesn't buy either another block or +40's.

It put me below critical with the 4.11:1 I ran even up to the RPM limit of 8300 I used back then so it well under stressed with the 3.5:1 I run now and 6200 redline.
Where the Timing case meets the block the gasket will stick up slightly I trim this with a sharp scraper so it's flush then use a smear of RTV on that join.
Collin: It's more sustained high speed/high shaft speed that comes about when you run 4 series diff gears with an engine that will rev 7500+ that stresses a one piece shaft.
There are a few cars on the market here with long wheelbases that are factory limited to 180Kmh/110mph as their 2 piece...
