The gear itself is available so if your speedo isn't stuttering it should only be a few $ to replace the gear.
I don't have one here to check how many teeth are on it sorry, I'm sure someone should jump in though.
10Mph is a BIG error and this is why I think it's the wrong gear, remember...
Jack it up turn the Driveshaft and count the rotations of the wheels then divide one by the other.
Being an NA it "should" have a 4.30:1 gear set in it.
Can you do a set of cliffnotes of what it's doing and what you've tried so far?
I have a lot on my plate at the moment so am finding it hard to give your problem the attention it needs due to the rambling nature of the thread.
If it's Valves you can hear it in either the exhaust or the intake if it's rings you can hear it in the crankcase when you remove the dipstick or oil cap.
The other thing you might find/see from the leakdown is if it pressurises the crankcase the leak may become evident.

It would give us an idea of how much blowby gas your engine is producing as it may just be as simple as your current PCV system is being overwhelmed by the volume of gas.
