Same I've spent years here trying to educate and steer people away from the typical/classic Mk3 owners tightass way of botching even the simplest jobs and repairs but in this case as Fig has stated that this engine has a use buy date anyway I'd go for the Devcon and deal with it when it's time...
LOL it's scarey just how strong a bond you get from that stuff!
I used the oxy torch, a pair of crow bars and a puller to get that damper off and killed the puller in the process!
DevconA is the Ti one Fig, shit sets like glass, I think where the original repairer went wrong was to use it as an epoxy and glued the damper to the crank.
It was only slightly easier to remove than if it were welded, I destroyed a puller removing it.
The Beef I have with welding the...
You can still buy the pins/clips and connector bodies from Toyota, the clips come with short flyleads so 15 minutes with a crimper and you should be good!
I don't give a rats arse what you'd like to say....
The Snout is damaged and undersize the bore in the damper is oversize no amount of dowling it is going to hold it WILL come loose again..... :nono:
It needs to have parallel surfaces so there is no rocking, think of what the damper...
Fig: Don't get your panties in a bunch it was for Acid's idiotic suggestion...
If you were trying to offload the car you "might" use something like DevconA but welding a bonded Dampener on come on it's ridiculous in the extreme...
The CPS is a basic bit of gear it usually either works or doesn't, 9 times out of 10 it's the wiring/connector has been fried when some genius has removed the heat shielding around it.
How did they achieve the gain?
More timing?
more boost?
or did the Alc just lean it down enough to make more power?
hint <the gain wasn't from the fuel on it's own>......
Probably both as these cars are getting on...
Can of C0cleaner spray the connectors inside and out clip them in/out a few times and see if it improves.
Yep no soldering, done this a few times and my DBW Pedal is done this way as I couldn't source a connector for it.
Just make sure the clips are tight on the pins and can't move while the RTV sets up and you're golden.
