You took that as a put down?
Sorry if I offended your delicate sensibilities but in 30+ years of playing cars/engines I have NEVER seen an engine built in that order and I was just stating my thoughts on the subject, I was in no way trying to make you look like an idiot.
As for your...
I use a heat gun to soften the rubber, heat up the fitting and spray some windex in the hose, slips on with a bit of force then the Windex dries and it's going no-where :)
Ok I'm a bit confused here, so you have the crank and pistons installed just no bearing shells?
What are you going to do if the bearings measure out of spec?
Am I correct that you've torqued the head down?
Only really appliciable to a freshly surfaced block Dave, human physiology won't allow the surface to remain flat/true for long when lapping.
Think of lapping as a finishing process.
Pretty well everything, timing case is part of the deck and needs to be bolted on when the engine is surfaced or the head can't sit flat and will BHG in minutes.
Save some time effort and heartache and get it surfaced....
All it takes is one imperfection to ruin your day as an MHG will NOT conform to the deck and head surfaces if they're less than perfect.
If using a composite gasket you "may" get away with a clean up using a sharp scraper after...
Ny point exactly, more than likely a JDM car, Japan to my understanding never got the GE cars so any JDM Spec 86.5 is going to be a GTE and probably have no squirters in the block.
I gouged my eyes out with a kitchen fork just after seeing the wing......
WTF do these fools do that shit and start off with an NA then think it's worth GTE money?
Might just have been some crap hiding in behind a crank plug or inside an oil passage has worked it's way loose.....
I pull all the plugs and wire brush all the galleries during a build.
