    It's mainly just to verify that you have flow there but you can calculate the volume/pressure at the turbo inlt then compare it to the output timed over a minute, modern BB turbo's have made this much more difficult as they have tiny internal restrictors so you need to know their size.

    Well per usual check the head for hardness and with a straight edge and if it has any surface damage that can be felt with a fingertip it'll need surfacing. Check the MHG around the dowel holes as this is where cracks usually start.

    Now and again when you install a Lip seal the preload spring inside can pop out of it's groove so the seal leaks badly when under pressure.. NOT saying that's the case this time but it's possible.

    I always budgeted $2000>$2500 anytime the head had to come off for any reason, if it came in under that I was happy. (it's ALWAYS worse than expected so a small "I'll just pop the head off to check" something can easily blow out to a 2K+ job)
