    Hot tanking & bearings question

My Crank shop steered me away from the ACL bearings as they don't do M series in their "Race" Bearing, their suggestion was NDC's.

finally!!! i can weld aluminum from home

I'm still learning the fine points of TIG, had my machine a lot of years now and got some good info/help from Ron R early on but I just don't get the hours with it to be "good". My Welds are structurally sound but can't be called "pretty" ;)

AC/DC just changes the heat focus, with Al you need the heat at the work and not at the Tungsten. (this is my understanding of the issue, not forgetting the cleaning action of the AC current on the Al oxide)

    Hot tanking & bearings question

Well no he doesn't :p Read back through and you'll see I ID'd them as NDC's for a long time but someone else posted I think it was ACL's in Clevite boxes now... I have posted I wouldn't use Kings ever in anything not even to wedge a door open as they fail at that as well ;)

Question about Rear control arm issue.

Look at a stock Arm, that's how it should be. Bushing one end Heim/Spherical bearing the other...... Having said that I personally think Heim joints are garbage on a road car but that's just me.

Do you have to touch the Tungsten to start the arc or does it jump across?

How to Replace a MKIII Driveshaft Carrier Bearing for $50

There are 2x Thick spacers (about 5mm thick from memory) they're visible on Destrux's pics under the 1/4" plate.

Question about Rear control arm issue.

Talk to Wes, you need the Spherical at the Hub end as that's where the rotation occurs, a bush there will cause the Tube to fail in time.

Question about Rear control arm issue.

Control Arm doesn't have a Spherical bush it's a normal Steel in rubber sleeve bushing, they look the same but aren't.

Question about Rear control arm issue.

You want a fixed bushing at one end and a Spherical at the Hub end to allow for rotational movement as well as Up/Down, I'm guessing it's an oversight on Wes's part as what you now have is a Link and NOT a control arm...

Question about Rear control arm issue.

The Hub end is a Spherical bushing, I'm not understanding why there's a Heim at the opposite end....

Leaning out the 7mgte. How far can I go?

Did a LOT of testing when I had my 7M, anything leaner than 15.5>15.8 would make it unresponsive and create a slight lean miss, in turn to drive at that you needed more throttle % so ended up using as much and sometimes more fuel then a low 15:1 cruise. In the end I was able to have a...
