Heres my take on the issue. If the guy wants to be a badass and take the pain and possibly do himself irrepairable harm, I say go ahead. But you mention wanting to strangle someone else because you are in so much pain that you cant "maintain"...Well thats just bullshit. So some hapless schmuck...
Timing is certainly important, I guess it depends on how far off it is. Since you know its not set properly you should definately start there, but Im skeptical its the root of your problem.
run a cleanout tap down the block threads. Use the special moly lube that comes with the ARP hardware, lube the threads and the washer. Other than that ARP hardware is "plug and play".
It should be timed for sure, but I kinda doubt thats the issue. My initial inclination would be to lean towards fuel. Also a thorough exam of the hoses and vac lines would be a good idea.
Your w58 may just be hammered but if anything is gonna resurrect it I would say changing the fluid and...
First things first use the Napa block tester and get that out of the way. If no BHG then you can proceed to fix other minor issues.
Have you done it yet? we're waiting......
If no BHG you may proceed...
I recommend you focus on safety issues first, brakes, glass, lights...
Have you thought about just taking your car to a repair shop and getting it looked at if you cant solve the problems yourself? There is no reason to drive a car that you hate to drive because its messed up. I like to do my own work but that hasnt stopped me from taking somewhere when I was...
HA! you mean Stevens old Jeep? Man I crashed that thing and sold it already. Im driving a 4x4 4 door version now, which is up for sale so I can have enough for a mk2 I have my eye on ;)
Pffft, who cares what the SF crowd thinks. All that matters is what you think. Would I rock em? no, probably not, but they are cool nonetheless, enjoy em!
^^I agree with this guy, I'll keep my creature comforts thank you. But in Tanyas case I think she pulled the parts partly because they werent working anyway.
of course if the mk3 owners used that rationale there would be alot of em running around without engines in 'em.. :sarcasm:
Typically the chain stores hire anyone they can get for the cheapest wage possible. I cant really blame the moron behind the counter, I blame the corporate strategy that hires them and makes them sell the lowest grade of crap possible. Welcome to the American way, fuck you very much.
If I need...
Those are very respectable numbers and in a mk2 should make for a VERY spirited ride. I would thinnk those numbers would improve your sale price quite a bit actually.
well it wasnt your personal comfort I was referring to so much as your ability to see through your windows. You can always dress warmly, but fogged windows can be a real problem in the PacNW.
You could hook up a power inverter and plug in a hair dryer to defrost, lol :sarcasm:
