If you are willing to ship the motor, I've only got one machinist/engine builder that I would trust with a Supra motor at this point.

Oh I agree, it does sound like rodknock, or some major internal failure surrounding one piston.
However there's a difference between "sounds like", "pretty sure" & "definately rod knock".
The diagnostics will tell. I've seen broken clutches/flex plates/flywheels make sounds like that too...
I wouldn't pay $9.75 for sawblades (sorry sawblade guys, I hate those damned things) let alone $975
He probably added up what he paid for them, his time working on them, cost of paint, etc and added a tidy little profit.
You see this a lot when people have modded cars for sale. They add up...
Guys, there's NO WAY you can diagnose rod knock via a video.
First and foremost viperjames, go to this thread and read it:

This will help you diagnose if it's rod knock.
Could be your flywheel is loose. Could have lost an...
All a boost controller does is interrupt airflow to the wastegate actuator/diaphram to RAISE boost. You can never run lower boost than your wastegate spring is providing.
In other words, if it's not working properly without a boost controller, it will continue not working properly with one.
Hey, if you wouldn't mind, can you take a few pics from the interior of your back half setup?
Did you buy a prebuilt 4-link from someone like Sheppard or did you build it all in house?
Negative - wastegate is really the only way. The WG vents exhuast. The BOV (if you could find a way to make it leak) would just vent air that your ECU had already added fuel for - you'd wind up hitting cut even earlier.
Try removing the two bolts that hold the wastegate acutator on so you...
If anything the car would run a little richer @ 7 psi - nothing to worry about. I ran a S-AFC/Lexus setup for years with 3 different boost settings. The 7M ECU does a good job. Don't sweat it.
I've seen a few cars make wacky high numbers. And I've also seen some 7M's struggle to make 300 with the stock turbo. Those are nice safe easy numbers for him to make. I just don't want to put out there "you should make 310" and have him keep pushing the car harder and harder to try to make a...
Provided your injectors are large enough. Taking fuel out raises fuel cut, but read below for A/F answers.
For a 7M on factory pistons, I'd tune for 11.8:1 at full throttle & boost for a street driven car. That's very safe and you won't have to worry about blowing it up if you get on it on a...
Looks like the 100% wrong execution of the right idea.
However, I am jaded. Some of you guys know the kind of stuff my old shop turned out.
Stuff like this:
And this:
And this:
You get used to seeing stuff like this on a daily basis and then you look at a car like that one...
I hate that movie... hate.. Hate... HATE!! :bigun2:
For those of us who have owned these machines for years it completely changed (and in some ways really screwed up) the whole owning a Supra thing.
I bought my 1st Supra in 1990 brand new and the latest one [MKIV #2] is my ninth Supra...
Still around, just focusing on working on cars and racing, not selling parts. It's a LONG story and I've dragged this thread off topic more than once already. :)
