Is there a way to change rev limiter?

Yes, you could with a signal clamp, but that's dangerous and not a very good idea. What would happen is even though you are turning the motor 7,000 rpm the ECU would be convinced it was running at a lower RPM.

    SAFC Problems

Is it not showing the AFL setting, or the KAR setting? There's not such thing as "airflow" on the 7M-GTE - you have to use the Karmann signal (it's in Hz). Example, when selecting the items to be displayed in Monitor mode, the screen looks something like this: AFL THR PRS...

Not Supra but a boosted car problem

When I tune I charge $150 per hour (dyno time included). If he's offering a flat rate of $500 to tune a supercharger conversion, that's actually not bad. Those cars are a notorious pain in the ass to get a stable A/F on. Ed's reputation proceeds him as well, you'd be hard pressed to go wrong...

    1jz redline????

Read this thread: http://www.supramania.com/forums/showpost.php?p=180719&postcount=18 Then take the very short 2.81" stroke of the 1JZ and plug it into the numbers in that thread. I'd say you are safe for 8000.

Do mechanics, car audio installers, etc, like working on your car?

If someone who you are paying is bitching about working on it I have one piece of advice: TAKE IT SOMEWHERE ELSE! As a former shop owner I can tell you that I would never bitch (nor allow one of my guys to bitch) about working on a customers car.

    Oil psi questions

Most mechanics who are familiar with (for example) GM motors will tell you she's gonna blow when you've got 5 psi of oil pressure at idle. Believe it or not 4.3 psi (0.3 kg/cm2) or higher is the factory spec for this motor at idle. It's normal.

    how much hp for boring?

Stroking a 7M is definitely not the best idea, and I'll show you why. There are several methods that you can use to determine tensile loads on rods, but the most simple and available to someone with basic mathematic skills is to use mean piston speed. This is the average speed the piston...

Not Supra but a boosted car problem

An FPR does not "control" injectors. And FPR is not a tuning tool to control added fuel for boost. I'm not really sure what you are getting at. The purpose of the FPR is to provide stable fuel pressure at the rail relative to the boost level. That's all it does. The larger injectors provide the...

Not Supra but a boosted car problem

I've already given you my opinion on the FMU, which is a way to make little injectors spray more fuel than they were ever meant to do. Now they are telling you add slightly bigger injectors and have them spray far more than they were ever built to do. You can get a full set (8) Accel 37...

    Official SF thread

And a lot of us are tired of guys like you lumping us all in together because we've got some asshats in the crowd. Also, be careful when talking about SF. 75% of the idiots on that forum don't even own a Supra (MKIII or MKIV). I happen to love Supras of every generation, from the antique MKI...

    how much hp for boring?

The general rule of thumb when overboring is to remove the MINUMUM amount of material to achieve a good surface. Overboring is not done for power, it's done to refresh the walls of the cylinders. By going with the minimum you leave yourself the maximum amount of material to do it again. If you...

Not Supra but a boosted car problem

And well I'm at it (yea, I know - shut up already!) when discussing rising rate regulators, FMU's etc. Think about this: The injector is designed at 43 psig @ atmospheric pressure. If you use a 1:1 rising rate regulator where it adds 1psi of fuel for each 1 psi of boost, you'll always have...

Not Supra but a boosted car problem

For those who like to think in cc/min vs lb/hr, the conversion is REALLY easy. Take the lb/hr injector size and muliply it by 10.50. i.e. - 24 lb/hr = 252 cc/min injectors The inverse is true if you want to go the other way, just divide cc/min by 10.50 for the lb/hr rating: 440...

Not Supra but a boosted car problem

Note: for imports, to convert from lbs/hr to cc/min, just multiply the injector size by x 10.5 Ok, you didn't say auto or stick, but let's guess stick and give a 20% drivetrain loss @ the wheels. So lets say you are shooting for 400 BHP. Since we're taking a boosted application we need to...

Not Supra but a boosted car problem

According to Areomotive that pump is only good for 500 HP on a boosted application. Here's the flow chart: That pump is down to 300 lbs/hr @ 70 psi - I doubt it can flow any meaningful amount of fuel at 100+ psi. What are your horsepower goals? What size injectors?

Not Supra but a boosted car problem

That could be your problem right there. You are running 40 psi at cruise. You have an 8:1 FMU You are adding 7 to 9 psi of boost. Take an average of 8 psi of boost. 8 psi x 8:1 FMU = +64 psi at the rail Add that to the 40 you are cruising at, you are asking you fuel pump to put out...

    New Mark III

I guess understanding the mechanics of the 7M BHG has a lot to do with it. I've run 22 to 25 psi on a factory head gaskets for years at a time. (This is not to say I don't run MHG's - anytime I get the head off a MKIII it gets a MHG - it's extra insurance.) However I have run on stock...
