In automobiles in general, a blown head gasket often mixes water and oil. However in the 7M this is not the common case in my experience.
The BHG usually pushes enough coolant out of the system so that the cylinder head really doesn't have any water in it to leak into the cylinders. Also, the...
I take issue with this statement. You are woefully misinformed.
The normal BHG failure on the 7M block is to fail between the cylinders and the water jacket. It's extremely rare that a 7M ever gets coolant in the oil. This is the reason for the "waterfall sound" in the dashboard and the...
Me and the girl at an F-Body meet up in North Carolina with our respective cars behind us.(yes, I have way too many f'ing cars.. However I sold that Trans Am last year.):
What I find amazing is how much more my MKIII turbo targa (1987) is to insure compared to my MKIV hardtop (1995) or MKIV targa (1994) when it comes to liability insurance - and how much more my old Chevy Blazer 4x4 (1989) is than all of them.
I think a lot of it has to do with airbags, ABS...
Same here, I don't do religion. But I've been there, and I know what it's like to deal with a loved one who's "not themselves". If you ever need to talk about it, just PM me with a phone # and I'll be glad to give you as much of my time as you need.
Hey, I know that's a long list and it's not even complete.
But when you've got a problem like this it's good to know where you stand. Develop a list and start eliminating possibilities.
Here's how I would work it out.
ALWAYS start from the cheapest/easiest solutions, work your way up...
In general when I've seen oscillation like that it's been due to a battle between the ECU wanting to advance timing and the triggering of the knock sensors telling it to retard timing.
It can be caused by one of the following:
Too lean of a mixture
Too hot of an air charge (insufficient...
My cats are spoiled...
REALLY spoiled...
This is Whisper - she's a Norwegian Forest cat, and the princess (note the white slippers...). This is a cat that will come and get you because one of the food bowls is 1/2 empty. Once you fill them, she'll go back to what she was doing. She won't...
I'd say you've got one of a few of things going on:
1. The oil was there from prior leaks
2. Someone put oil on the plugs before changing them
3. You have strange little garage gremlins...
With compression numbers like the ones you are showing I seriously doubt there's anything wrong...
I've got mine trained to the point where I can just look at them and clear my throat and they are gone.
Except for the evil one up there (Newt is her name) - she occassionally gets the spray bottle. :)
I used to drive a 572 Cu In bigblock blower motored 1978 Pro-Street Monte Carlo. :)
I had an extended oil pan like this one:
and relocated dual 2 qt capacity filters that looked something like this (except it wasn't a bypass system, just standard filters):
As a goof I took it to...
I doubt it.
The turbo AFM is a Karmann-Vortex setup - it outputs a signal in kHZ.
The NA AFM is a "flapper style" AFM - it ouputs a variable voltage signal.
The NA ECU isn't capable of interperting the signal from the turbo AFM.
Unless you are running some very wild conversion...
Warning: Administrator content (i.e. - you should probably read this)
Folks, this thread is starting to get very close to decending into a flame war. And although this section is "lightly moderated" it's not unmoderated.
With that said - please stop messing up NATAN666's thread, post pics...
Would you happen to have any wideband logging of your runs?
The thing that concerns me is that the AFM on an NA is basically a potentiometer connected to a flap. Once that flap is 100% open, there's absolutely no way for the ECU to know what air flow is like. Theoretically, the only thing the...
Last night I migrated Supramania to a larger (multi-processor) server.
I believe everything has gone well.
