did you actually check the codes, or did you just look at the check engine light...? the CEL won't illuminate constantly with code 52. when you check your codes, though, (use the link in my sig) i'm willing to bet that you'll have a code 52. and if you think your car ran well before, wait...

personally, i don't think the price is that high. save $50/week for 4 weeks, and you've got enough for the basic startup unit. that's not bad AT ALL! -shaeff

smoke on startup? possibly the valve seals. smoke from the exhaust could be turbo seals. get the temp gauge working ASAP. i wouldn't even take my car around the block without it working! if the gasket is leaking between the turbo and elbow, then either tighten it because it's loose, or replace...

you shouldn't have to cap the valve, just the nipple on the bottom of the accordian hose, and the steel vaccuum line coming across the front of the motor to the idle up valve. it comes from under the intake manifold. i removed that entire line, and capped it off under the manifold. -shaeff

jet performance ECU upgrade is a scam. read up on dr. jonez's sites. the two i was thinking of were legit upgrades. not slap stickers on/in and go. -shaeff

un-mounted pics, but hey, whatever. :p falken azenis rt-615's on MKIV rims. (17x9.5 rear, 17x8 front) fronts have 255/40/r17's, rears are 275/40/r17's. -shaeff

sounds like a vacuum leak or a TPS on it's way out. -shaeff

i have a JDM motor, no EGR on it stock. i have not heater vsv, no charcoal cannister (but will eventually be getting a small one and hiding it). pretty much everything else is removed. -shaeff

nicely said, j-dub. i wouldn't have deleted it. but hey, only mods can see it now. open wide, this is a big spoon: you'll need the engine harness and ECU from an 87-88 car. they have yellow plugs/connectors. you'll have to splice a few (4 at most) 1-wire connectors from a late (89+) style...

when you're idling in a parkinglot and turn the wheel, the engine RPM might dip down a bit. i have mine disconnected and capped. in fact, i think i have 3 vaccuum lines on my car total. boost gauge, BOV, and AFPR. -shaeff

oddly enough, whenever i picked up one of my previous girlfriends, and my current one, i made sure i had a full tank of gas. one of my favorite pastimes is to drive around. you can get to know a lot about someone just by driving around, listening to good music of her choice (albeit, quietly) and...
