depending on how much material has been removed from the head and block id guess it is possible to make the head interferance. you did check to make sure that the crank pulley bolt is still on tight? you might have clicked it loose.

if you have oil/water mixing in the PCV lines id say its probably a BHG. thats what mine did. the number 6 water jacket blew out away from the bore. no oil on the dipstick, but a nasty thick oil and water milkshake clogging up the PCV lines. pressure test the radiator/cooling system. that...

look under the oil cap for water...check PCV lines for oil/water mixing. mysterious coolant loss? pressure test the cooling system. if it dosnt hold pressure and there are no external leaks.......you have a BHG.

is the smoke thick? when it is smoking does the car seem to idle like crap? look under your oil cap, see any water?

check your timing and do a tune up.
