Dirgle, I hear ya. However with the 10's of thousands of dollars I have tide up in this car, the last thing I want to hear when I open the hood is "that doesn't look THAT bad".
My mechanic says the stuff does indeed come off (after paint remover, steam cleaning, and power washing). I'm only going to make him remove everything above the line in the picture, since anything below shouldn't really be noticable with the engine installed, and should help against rust...
No, the engine bay needs to be pristine. The entire car does with the amount of money I've wasted so far. This car is supposed to be fast, comfortable, and sexy. The engine bay looks like crude oil is thrown about it. It's gotta go, or the very least cleaned up and repainted flat black.
Alright you bastards. I can't take it anymore. Believe it or not, the pics make the engine bay look alot less terrible than it actually does. The paint the guy applied is so freakin glossy that it blinds you. And with all the texture it is just awful.
I called my mechanic up and tore him a...
I'm feelin ya IJ. I was hoping it was just me. But it's clearly not. Damn, it's gonna waste alot of time getting all that shit off and repainting.
And as far as taking it somewhere else. Not an option. Long story. This guy has been paid a long time ago up front and is now just getting...
I wasn't exactly jumping for joy when I saw the end result. Originally I told the guy just to spray the firewall. Unfortunetly it appears he had too much fun and decided to get the entire bay. I'm glad he likes the look. I'm really not digging it all that much. Luckily, the engine is still not...
I was disappointed to seet the lack of masking certain things off. However, as long as it doesn't hinder functionality, I guess it's ok. However, my mechanic is going to have to pull those TEMS covers anyways when he replaces the front suspension. So I'm sure he'll have fun prying those covers...
Well, I had my engine bay completely stripped of all paint, power washed, 3 coats of Second Skin Sound Deadener Spray, followed by 2 coats of gloss black paint. Not really digging the Rhino Liner look, but it'll keep down road noise, never rust, and well.....it's different.
Next comes the...
The fuel rail is bolted all the way down with the factory spacers in place. There is no up and down play on any of the injectors, but I can still twist them side to side.
So I'm trying to install my flowtested Nippon Denso 550's (low impedence off a rx-7 Turbo), but there's no room for the clips. Maybe the O-rings are too big, but I used the ones that came in the OEM Gasket set. The OEM fuel rail sits right against where the clips go in.
I know alot of people...
Very recently, 2 people have started listing their custom Longrunner 7M FFIM's on ebay. I've been looking for a FFIM for sometime now.
The first ones doesn't look too bad.
The second ones don't look like they would flow as well.
Opinions?
I'm going with a Denso internal pump myself. Supposedly pumps 280lph and is ultra quiet. I need a quiet pump since I'm doing the 12v mod and heard that the Walbro's scream. Turboimport is selling the Denso's at a great price this month. You can buy them from their website or off of ebay.
I had any old mechanic install my Eibach Proline Springs and Tokico IlluminaII Shocks years ago. The car has never been finished yet, so it's just been sitting around. Well my new mechanic went to finish installing the other springs when he tells me that the front ones don't look right. Should...
Ha! Toyotas qoute for an new knock sensor and wire harness is $808. That is jus ludacris! LOL.
I talked to steve also and he assure me that the engine was mounted very securely and it wasn't going anywhere. Plus, if it fell over there would be much more damage. Why just one plug smashed and...
