You can get the gen ii and run a gm maf. Or you can get a maft pro with loads more tuning capablities and run a map sensor. Either will work. And fp should be set between 33-40 psi and left alone. Adding more fp does not mean more power. Do you have a wideband? If not get one.

The backing plate does not need tO be machine. It's just a back plate. When you surface the block the lower rear timing cover needs to machined with it torqued down.

There is also precision wastegates which are the tial style. What exhaust housing are you running on the gt40? Could be a bit laggy on the 1j.
