Do you still have the old upper half?
You can cut the threaded portion off of it, plus about 1" of non-threaded length. Clamp the non-threaded part in a vice, and match a drill bit perfectly to the lower half that is in the car and drill through the piece that's in the vice. JBweld and let set...
I wouldn't doubt it's far less than 3,000lbs...
It may be all steel, but it's a full steel 70's car. It's not an american iron 10,000lb rustbucket, it's a little japanese tin can.
Just look how light 510's are....
I love the way those wheels look already...
I had a mechanic tell me that my car was FWD and if I lower it, I'll bottom out on the transmission and smash the case.
I proceeded to tell him that it was RWD and he told me "It must be a custom hack-job. I'll never work on it"
to which I replied "Trust me, you're right"
Very nice photos everyone. I like the brakestand Joe, and the Head-On pic of the Black Supra, Darkcyde. I have the same rims on one of my black supras!
Used wheel section ftw.
I'll try to get some more pics tonight.
How many Supras are in your garages?
Necessary? Two complete failures in recent past deem it necessary in my eyes.
I'd rather have a nice billet one, because, well... strength of course ;)
Yeah that's fine and dandy, but what'll we do with the prize car if we win? we certainly can't share it and take the last three posters (me included) locations for an example...
Florida, Ohio, Massachusetts.
It's not like we're all centrally located and can come by and work on the car after...
I bought ST springs and Bilstein struts because my struts were junk... I was saving for coilovers, but I needed suspension ASAP.
I regret it all the time.
