Ya that would be a good idea.
A cylinder leak down test would be a good idea. Can tell you if you have an issue with rings valves or hg. If the rings are original and have well over 100k on them could likely be the colpret. As well as an old ct with shaft play.
High quality Teflon lines work for the drain and feed. Ss hose is a pain all around. Nylon braid hose is so easy to work with its like opening a beer bottle with a bottle opener.
The port where the pipe goes from valve covers to tb. Pull that off and spray some brake cleaner through. Those hoses usually get hard and break as well. Aaron at dm sells them for like 13$
Check to make sure the port on the tb is clear and the lines as well. Can pull the accordion hose off and check the turbo for play as well.
Any smoke?
Also looks like you have a hole in the ic. As usually oil won't come out of the core. Just full it up or come out the hoses.
So the line came out of the fitting?
Both Russell's and earls will say to pressure test every line before use.
Havnt heard of this before either and lots of people use the soft lines. Personally I'm not a fan of them. Arz sells a larger hard pipe.

There's a lot of nice turbo manifold options for the 2j as well. And I'd highly suggest going with a nice one over a cheap on. Quality is night and day.
Can look on sf for a used one as well.
Slight changes here and there. Iirc there is a number on them somewhere. But it really doesn't matter. Finding a head that is not soft is the most important part as a port and polish will be better than any of them.
