    wheel bearing going out and a diff going out make similar noises. Driving with the wheels off the ground and a stethoscope will pinpoint it.

    both those people are from other countries. Some countries drive crazy which is normal. But they also have a lot of accidents. Like Russia.

    If you just un hook all the vac lines to it it should stay closed. Thats what i did on my 1j and it held up fine to ~15 psi. Or try and find a block off plate. Thought someone made some for the 2j.

    If no1 is at tdc the crank pulley should be at zero. If its not you need a new crank pulley. Also te1 and e1 need to be jumped to set the timing.

    Check the little wire on the battery. All those lights coming on is because of low voltage.

    Then that could be your problem. There is a big wire that goes to the starter and a smaller wire that powers everything else.
