He said the car idles when floored in drive. If the tranny was locked up as you say, then the engine would rev up to the stall speed of the torque converter. So either the original post was misleading (viz. the engine won't go above idle in drive) or the diagnosis needs to focus on why the...
Stock bolts are not TTY. That is why you can reuse them per the TSRM.
*If* they were TTY you would preload with a low torque, then turn a certain number of degrees. And they would be marked with a diamond in the TSRM to show they cannot be reused.
With regards to the other question, I haven't...
The procedure is you start with the lowest code first. So you will need to diagnose the AFM.
First thing to do is check the wiring, make sure the connector and harness is not damaged, pins aren't bent, broken, or corroded, and the wires are not obviously broken, especially where they go...
I am now seeing about 10 psi idle pressure with 5W30 Mobil 1 and engine warmed up. It was around 5-7 psi before I rebuilt the head using 10W30 Mobil 1.
Casting is typically more expensive than stamp and bend. Toyota almost always changes things to reduce cost. This is why they are kicking Chrysler's butt out of third place, and Ford is next.
I believe the original 7M pump used a cast impeller, and toyota switched to the stainless impeller later on during production. The exact reason is of course unknown, but I suspect it could be cost.
I have spent some time on this as well.
First, you are correct to worry about this. Of all the specs on the head, the cam bearing clearance is the most overlooked, and sadly, the one area where alot of wear occurs, especially on the rear journals far from the front oil feed.
The spec from...
JJ, I think he said he temporarily unplugged his AFM, which would explain the code 31. Otherwise, you're right, that needs to be addressed as high priority.
I would paste the article here since it is short, but don't want to cause copyright problems. so here is the link.
Can Ford/GM compete with a company that can make a 268hp V6 for $1000 and puts it in everything including the Sienna minivan I just bought...
The best alternative, although neither easy nor fast, is to manually lap the block with a lapping plate.
For a 6" round plate (a little small but this can be used with care to do a block) this place will get you one for under $100.

Well, lets take a look at code 22 first. If the coolant sensor is dead, then the ECU defaults to a preset temp (80C) that assumes a warm engine.
Since you have a cold engine, and this is winter, the ECU will be commanding a lean mixture appropriate for a warm engine that may not be enough to...
Another significant difference is in the post 89 and pre89 blocks. The post 89 blocks have a lot more meat as has been documented on another thread.
Also, the turbo block has the plumbing already tapped for the turbo/cooler oil lines.
