Not sure I agree. The sogi listserver and usenet was going back in late 80's early 90's and there was plenty of discussion on ma61's. I never heard of anyone who had an issue with BHGs and, personally I never had an issue either. Mine was at about 150k when I sold it.
A common problem. Pull the door panels off and lube the lock mechanism. I used lithium grease in a spray can which make it easy to get to all the parts that are tucked into the door corners. You will be amazed at how fast they actuate with new grease! If you are really adventurous remove the...
Back to the topic at hand... sort of. I've often wondered why the 5MGE in the MA60 did not have a reputation for BHGs. It's effectively the same setup and gasket (and bolt torque), although the head is obviously quite a bit different.
The only conclusion I can think of is that it was in a...
Fair enough, but you can see him push the button and then see the tach respond when the shift occurs with the sound off. In any case, the jeep transmission is not the A340, so it could be responding quite differently.
Sounds like a good plan. With all plugs showing rich its something common to all cylinders.
If the CSI is leaking you would expect Vf to show 0V (engine running rich and ECU reducing fuel to the injectors to compensate) and the O2 sensor is probably hard over on the rich side and not counting...
Take of the 3000 pipe, cam cover, and the throttle body and you can get to it from the other side. Definitely a PIA.
By the way, you can send to to RC Engineering and they will clean it and flow test it. Same price as for the other injectors.
Cygnus has most of what you need. Its for a 90, but besides some connector changes the ECUs are effectively the same from a debugging perspective.
The Vf signal is accessible right at the diag block under the hood, as is the O2 signal. Vf is basically equivalent to long term fuel trim in OBD2...
Stan... I'll leave it to JetJock to explain that one.
Jerry, the CSi is a pain. It is possible to get the wiring clip off by removing the 3000 pipe and going in under the throttle body with valve cover off..
no codes... have you checked the cross counts on the O2 sensor. Also, what is the Vf...
The coolant temp is a good suggestion, and check to make sure the thermostat isn't stuck open. That will make the car never go out of warmup mode. One clue would be if the idle is high, suggesting it may be staying in warmup mode with a rich mixture. We really need to know if any codes are being...
The numbers do indicate it is running rich.
Have you pulled the plugs? You may find one plug is black suggesting a leaky injector for that cylinder. They may all be black and then it might be a leaky cold start injector.
Is the check engine light on? Have you checked for codes as per...
Look at these two pictures. You can see that the fire ring has gone egg shaped and the coolant passages crushed in. This is the classic failure mode. It is clearly related to the overall weakness of the gasket in the direction of the coolant passages.
Also note that the typical wear...
I got mine from 935motorsports.
To figure out for sure how much was removed from your head, measure from the deck to the cam cover flange. Should be exactly 116mm on an uncut head.
A real mystery for me is why the intake side cooling passages on the block do not match up with the holes in the head gasket. Even more bizzare, the single passage in the block is partially covered by the separator between the two holes in the head gasket??
It would seem the HG would be a lot...
Are you talking about 15671B in this picture? If so, its an o-ring as stated above.
