BY the way, the stock pressure sender is not your typical variable resistance sender, it actually outputs a digital pulse train whose period is proportional to the pressure. Also, it is an input to the TCCS for idle stabilization.... strange but true!
He still has the stock downpipe with the OEM cat in it, so its even harder to comprehend how the RT cat would be so hard pressed to clean things up. But, I'll reserve judgement and wait for the test results using the old OEM cat.
I do have one other thought though, and that is maybe he has a...
To have any hope of resolving the problem the originator has to respond to questions for more data by going out to the car and doing some diagnostics and reporting back.
When that loop is broken, and questions go unanswered, then it no longer realistic to expect any positive resolution to...
At fast idle, 30 to 100 degC rise would generally be considered normal. 200 degC rise suggests a rich mixture, and 500 degC rise indicates unburnt fuel.
You are at 180 degC, which is on the high side, and suggests a somewhat rich mixture. It also shows that your cat is working fine.
By the...
We cannot diagnose your car over the internet. Its not going to happen. You didn't even bother to respond to JJ's first two questions about Vf and O2 cross counts. So, take it to someone who knows what they are doing, you are not going to fix this by randomly listing every sensor in the car...
The coil must be turned on earlier as the frequency of ignition events increases. Otherwise it wouldn't reach saturation. Fwiw dwell on this engine is typically 60 degrees at idle.
And yeah, since the secondary will rise to whatever voltage is required (within it's design limits) to ionize the...
Bottom one is EGR temp sensor (California only, unused on others). To confirm check that the wires are black-yellow and brown.
If the top one is the backup lights it will have yellow and red-black wires.
Those are good questions 3p. I hope I can answer them to your satisfaction. While I can tell you a great deal about how timing works dwell is not covered in depth by any of my documentation. It's an integral function of the igniter you know. Unselected coils are off ie; floated at 12 volts and...
Yeah, that is correct. Hold the thermocouple against the metal with a popsicle stick or some other thermal insulator that won't instantly melt or catch fire.
You can leave the CPS cover on. Just run your hand under the cap and see if it gets covered in oil. You can also shove a digital cam under the CPS from below and get a picture pointing upwards at the cap.
If your blowby is excessive you should see a lot of oil in the accordion tube coming...
I bought and used this one and it is fantastic.

Make sure the CPS is not leaking internally. Oil will drip out the drain hole in the cap. I did the same as you and I still have a small leak. Traced it to the CPS internal seal.
A good seal can also leak if there is a groove worn into the shaft from the old seal. I had that problem on my...
JJ is of course right. There is little point in taking it apart except to learn how it works. Fixing it, just like the $800 Volvo throttle modules that have the same problem, is hopeless.
Servicing the TPS wipers is not supported by Toyota, but you may be able to get some more life out of it by pulling it apart. Just make sure you have a backup plan if things go awry.
The telltale for worn wipers is a very noisy signal (resistance jumps erratically) between terminals VTA and E2...
The wiper and track will wear out after a while. Not much you can do at that point because the resistive film wears right through to backing. Our ECU will not throw a code when this happens.
PS Search for Volvo ETM if you want a real horror story about this problem.
I have been told (but have not verified) that this one will work if you grind the claws a little. Given the price, its probably worth a try.

If you're talking about the CPS internal seal, its not supported by Toyota. They only sell the CPS as a complete assembly. Here's a thread to rebuild the internal seal.

LOL. You just don't seem to get it. You need to test under pressure, there is no point spraying carb cleaner at idle.
