I was going to say that running straight water in the coolant system could of caused damage when the water froze but you're an aussie so scratch that idea lol
So you're positive you're getting a strong spark while the plug is IN the cylinder? I know you're going off of spark with a timing light but correct me if I'm wrong, the timing light goes off of the spark plug wire pulse, that doesn't mean the plug is firing a strong spark.
Okay well I double checked all of my connections several several times and finally got some contact cleaner. So I sprayed all the contacts and cleaned them, buttoned everything back up and I've got oil pressure.
Devin is there a reason why you're sticking with the stock mani? Is it to save the cash or prove a point? I'm sure tube manifolds would flow a lot better. I do like the external on the stock manifold though, I've thought about doing it but never really did it.
Also what will you be doing for a transmission? Will the 4runners fuel pump move enough fuel to feed it? It looks like fun, I've been thinking of dropping my 1jzgte into an 80's 4runner as well..

Verify that the igniter is sending out the signal for the coils to spark. Check the wires to the coils themselves along with the ground that SHOULD be connected to the head beside where the coil bolts in. Visually check the...
Everything is stock. Just installed the 7mgte I rebuilt along with the transmission and got it running. Just trying to get everything working to get it drivable and inspected. The previous owner has messed around with the head-unit wiring so I think that has something to do with the no gauge...
Okay well here's my problem. I've been scratching my head at it for awhile now and even looked at the TEWD but can't quite figure this out. I'm not sure if all these problems are tied together or not either. So here it is, I finally dropped my engine and got everything hooked up, I primed the...
Ah, I was wondering why he jumped out. We've run WRX's before in my friends 87 supra turbo and they never jump out like that, he's all stock so rolling traction isn't that bad.
Was that a regular WRX or the STi version? If that was a regular WRX, I'm surprised he jump out about a fender or so on the first race. Damn those short gear ratios!
Have you run a compression test? When you rebuilt it and installed the HG, what did you torque the bolts to? What bolts were used? Were they ARP bolts or studs? What HG did you use? Did you re-torque after 500ish miles?
Sucks to hear about the rod knock and such, I'd rebuild it with the stock HG unless you really plan on throwing some power to it. I'm sure someone will chime in here with what a stock HG will hold up to and the MLS as well. Clean car but I'm not really feeling the HD lip lol
