Here's a few pictures of the cam covers right now
And here's the machine that helped lol
I can't decide whether or not to paint them since taking the paint (that was already on them but chipping) off showed me how good they'd look polished.. Or just to repaint them a gloss black.
Little update but sorry no pictures. Just scrubbing the lower intake manifold, cam covers and other nasty looking parts that I will be reusing. Making sure everything is really clean will make me feel better and look better in the long run, plus I know there won't be any junk or debris in there...
It wasn't a SS braided line.. It was just your standard unprotected fuel line.. So I'll be looking for the stock fpr and egr pieces.
Can anyone tell by look if the afm is the stock one? Or the lexus afm uprgade..?
If you think that is bad.. The car has an aftermarket fpr(Looks like Turbosmart FPR-800 Fuel Pressure Regulator sold by driftmotion) but the car having the fpr isn't the bad thing.. They decided to run fuel lines up and over the alternator and very very close to the battery(I have pictures of...
After doing some research.. Does anyone know where I can get egr pieces? I'll need as far as I can tell, charcoal canister and egr valve as well as the egr vacuum modulator. I don't want the added egts caused without the egr. Also the vacuum line piece that goes on top of the power steering...
Thanks for your replies, yeah it's a lot of pictures I kind of went picture happy. But it is my new baby so I'm just all around excited. There's also some kind of crazy fpr so someone weirdly modded the fuel rail.. Also they put valves in the top of the rail where the banjo bolts were. So I'll...
Here's some shots of my transmission/long block.
Really dirty.. Any ideas to clean that out without hurting any seals?
The new muscle to my baby

Appears to already be timed. But I will be double checking it was timed correctly so I...
Okay well, early in the month of June of 2011 I went to look at what seemed to be a very clean looking 88 supra turbo. I arrived to find a garage kept 1988 white toyota supra turbo 5 speed with a crate long block. So I didn't have all of the money at the time when I went to look at it. So I...
I must've misread then. Just trying to make sure I get this engine broke-in properly the first time. It's all stock so I'd like to keep a good base to work from.

Thanks for the info on this. I live in...
I've read the sticky but found some things confusing.. During the first 20 miles, did you want to go WOT till 4k then aggressively up-shift through 'all' the gears? Or would first through fourth or even first through third be enough? Making sure to downshift to keep the revs around 3k for proper...
Not exactly the right place for this thread X.x But yeah.. get 52 fixed and you should notice a big difference. It'll drive fine out of boost, but once you hit positive manifold pressure it'll spit and sputter and still sound like it should be hauling ass.
Who seriously double clutches a 997 then trades it in after the clutch is toast X.x He's def got deeper pockets than me.. Maybe since it's a 'new' car to him you'll have the advantage over more car-owner experience?:evil2:
That idle is weird.. and the symptoms are even more confusing.. as far as more help.. I've suggested everything I can think of as how to help. If I think of any more I'll be sure to post my suggestions.. but I'm at my wits end. Maybe one of the more experienced members could help.
^wondering that as well. Because like I said.. Mine is brand new.. Just trying to decide whether I want to pull the headgasket and replace it with a MHG+ARP studs or.. Just tighten the head bolts in it now to 75 ft-lbs.
