O, and no spray paint on that engine. Stop being lazy and get some sand paper, a dremel tool and Mothers Aluminum polish.
That motor needs polished parts, no ifs ands or buts. It really deserves it. Maybe you can run with the JZ motors now.
:biglaugh:
I finally got to do some stuff on the engine today. I bought a lower runner that was "polished" from nightrider760. I did not open the package when I got it since I had put it aside and having work and school to deal with, I forgot about it. I opened it today and the "polished" work was...
A properly working fan clutch with the GTE blade, a fan shroud and an aluminum radiator will last you in those 117F with the A/C on. Clutch fan wins any and everyday.
Now you have it idling, get another fuel dampner and put it in there and see if it help but if what your mechanic did to the ECU helps, send it to Aaron and see if he can repair it.
I have seen media blasting on aluminum but of you don't know what you are doing, then you will damage it.
I had an intake manifold blasted and it looked great. All dirt was removed and all you saw was the bare aluminum, no pitting or anything like that. There are different kinds of material...
Use a 80C thermostat as the lowest. Do not go lower than that. Make sure your fan clutch is good as well, if not, Google how to rebuild it, it is just really the changing of the fluid inside.
Why did you just post that?
Look at that, another question. :biglaugh:
Seriously, OP, you should get some snake skin loom and cover each of those wires. It will prevent them from rubbing against the body and shorting out and blowing fuses. I see you do have the wires strapped down but...
I use this cleaner in the link all the time but it also will eat aluminum. To eliminate that risk, I mix it with diesel. I use about half pint of the cleaner to every two gallons of diseal. In our shop parts washer, it holds about 16 gallons of solvent, which we stopped buying and have been...
You can just replace the bolts that have the springs. The squirters themselves can just be cleaned and blown out with compressed air. If you have a compressor, just get an air blower and soak them in degreaser and then blow air through them. You can get a small non colored paper clip(colored...
You can go 1.5 if you like but in the mean time, just gather parts so you won't feel the burden of paying all at once. Decide if you want to go 1.5 or stay 1JZ first.
The person above stated it would be cheaper to buy a used 1JZ again but it is better to rebuild your own because you will know...
You can actually see the crank moving?
Page 74 in this link will help you determine if that was your problem when you pull your engine.
